Galole A are the winners of the Tana River County edition of the ongoing Dola Super Cup football tournaments being played across six coastal counties.

The champions found the back of the net in the 92nd minute to edge stubborn Garsen A 2-1 after a thrilling 1-1 stalemate in regulation at the historic Hola Stadium.

On their way to the finals, Galole A dismissed Tana North A as Garsen A cruised past Galole B.

"This is what we have been lacking, the talent here is amazing, we need these kinds of tournaments to give the youths exposure, both locally and internationally,” Mombasa Football Association Chairman Juma Goshi underlined after the thrilling encounter.

While giving his remarks about the ongoing football competitions at the coast, Dola Head Of Marketing Sadam Suleiman stated: "The tournaments have been helpful, they have helped the youths to stay away from drugs and other petty crime.

“The turn outs have been good. All the County Edition winners will pocket Sh100,000 while the Grand Finale champions will walk away with Sh 1 million."

In the Kwale County showdown finals, peerless Athmani Bori scored a brace as he gave Msambweni 3 a 2-0 lead at the breather before Hamidi Tabwara and Salim Mzare added a goal each on resumption for the 4-0 thrashing of Msambweni 2.

The feat saw the winners walk home Sh100,000 richer while runners up pocketed Sh80,000 for their effort.

The Mombasa County finals, contested at the Mwahima Grounds in Likoni, went to the impressive Likoni 1 who edged Likoni 2 5-4 on post-match penalties after a nervy 1-1 draw in normal time.

Likoni 1 custodian Said Ngare was the man of the match after he saved a Said Abdhalla’s spot kick during the tense penalty shootout.

The tournament, organized by the MFA in partnership with the maize flour firm Dola, now heads to Taita Taveta, Kilifi and Lamu counties.

Football stakeholders at the coast have applauded the contests saying they are helping to return fans back to the stadiums due to the massive turn out so far witnessed.
