FKF Electoral Board releases calendar and guidelines for upcoming elections

Football Kenya Federation’s (FKF) Electoral Board has released on Tuesday, August 11 released the calendar and guidelines for the upcoming elections.

Chairperson of the FKF Electoral Board Kentice Tikolo released the Electoral road map at FKF offices, Goal Project Nairobi. 

The electoral process is set to begin afresh, from County to National level, followed by sub-county level.

CALENDAR:

Notable on the calendar is the deadline for submission of County Nomination Forms on 26 August, followed by the deadline for submission on National Executive Commission and Presidential Nominations Forms for nominated candidates on 31 August.

County Elections are set for 19 September, with 22 September set aside in case of a tie.

County representatives will be published on October 1,

National Elections are set for 17 October.

The Board has agreed with both FIFA and FKF on a new candidature worthiness measure as provided for under article 27 of the FIFA statutes and in line with the FIFA Standard Electoral Code which states:

President and Vice President

  • A candidate must have at least five endorsements from any of the FKF Members
  • A candidate must have played an active role in football either as a player or an official in two of the last five years.
  • A candidate Must meet chapter six of the 2010 Kenyan constitution
  • A candidate must be a Kenyan Citizen

National Executive Committee Members

  • A candidate must have at least five endorsements from any FKF Members, two which must be from members domiciled in the region he/she seeks to represent.
  • A candidate must have played an active role in football either as a player or an official in two of the last five years.
  • A candidate must be a Kenyan Citizen

Branch Officials

  • A candidate must have at least three endorsements from any FKF Members domiciled in the County he/she seeks to represent.
  • A candidate must have played an active role in football either as a player or an official in two of the last five years.
  • A candidate must be a Kenyan Citizen

Candidates, both at Branch National and level who had submitted nomination papers in the last elections will not resubmit documents and pay prerequisite nomination fees.

However, should any willing aspirant be left out, they will be accorded adequate time to submit their candidature and pay nomination fees.

For the members who desire to withdraw endorsements and/or endorse a different candidate are free to do so, on the days provided for in the Electoral Calendar.

In its Electoral Road map, FKF has spared days for dispute resolution regarding the voter register, which remains the same in the meantime. These will also involve club eligibility.

The board encourages any individual(s) with such complaints to table the same, within the set timelines as published in the Electoral Calendar, accompanied by:

  • Genuine League standing for all the number of years the club has participated in the FKF leagues
  • Genuine Player Cards for the number of seasons played
  • Genuine fixtures for the number of seasons played
  • Affiliation letter from the relevant FKF branch and/or proof of affiliation to FKF, including any payments (paper trail) made to FKF as affiliation fees.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, elections will be conducted in line with existing health regulations in the country.
