After an improvement in the Africa Boxing Championships, the fourth and penultimate leg of the National Boxing League marks the start of another chapter for boxers who look forward to be selected into squads that will represent Kenya into future international championships.

Kenya is expected to send two squads to the Africa Zone Three Boxing Championships and Global Boxing Cup in Morocco, all to be held next month.

The two events are the last international assignments this year.

And as boxers get ready for the league championships to be hosted in Nanyuki on Thursday, all of them are keen to give their best in order to catch the eye of national selectors in the fight for top honours.

National head coach Musa Benjamin said each event matters in unveiling new talent.

This is an event league leaders Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) are determined to win in order to stretch their lead to unassailable points for them to be declared the new champions with one leg of the league championships set for Homa Bay on December 19-21 to go.

“We are determined to win so that our participation in the last leg in Homa bay should become as a formality,” KDF team manager Ben Maingi told Standard Sports.
