Former Kenya rugby international Charles Cardovillis has been appointed the new director, commercial and special projects for Kenya Rugby League Federation (KRLF).

In an announcement made yesterday by the federation’s board, Cardovillis will be responsible for developing the league’s long term commercial plan and introduce sustainable development goals into the rugby leagues ecosystem.

“I am excited to be part of what is turning out to be a dream team with Edward Rombo and Benjamin Ayimba and others expected to join board.”

“This is a fantastic opportunity, a project we have been working on for a number of years now. Rugby League will be every player’s dream, “ Cardovillis said.

The former Harlequins and Kabras Sugar coach has been involved in sports for close to 25 years contributing and serving in various capacities.

He is a former Kenya 7s and 15s international player, who also played for former Kenya Cup champions Kenya Harlequins.

He has coached Kabras, Quins and national sevens team, involved in development programmes and sponsorship sourcing.

“We have tremendous confidence in his ability to develop KRL commercial and special projects that will be of great impact and benefit to the rugby players, KRL affiliate clubs, partners and sponsors, “ KRLF chairman Quicks Nyakwaka said. KRLF is strengthening its coaching unit.
