Kenya: Kenya Airways has stepped up its fleet renewal programme with delivery of its third Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The world’s largest twin engine jet with up to 400 passenger sitting capacity, landed at the airline’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) hub in Nairobi on Friday.
Kenya Airways fleet score is now at 48 and will enhance the airlines long haul capability. Kenya Airways received its first Boeing 777-300ER in November 2013 that currently serves Nairobi-Guangzhou and Nairobi-Lagos route.
The second was delivered in May 2014 and commenced commercial service between Nairobi and Amsterdam. Speaking during a ceremony at the JKIA to receive the aircraft, Kenya Airways’ outgoing Group Managing Director and CEO, Titus Naikuni said the ongoing fleet renewal programme through which the B777-300ER and B787 Dreamliner aircraft have been acquired, targets improving customer experience on wide body aircraft.
“The addition of this B777-300ER aircraft is a major boost to our capabilities in operating long haul flights. It will enable us to increase the frequency of our intercontinental operations as we link up Africa to the rest of the world,” Naikuni added.
Among the exciting features in the Premier world section of the 777-300ER are: full flatbed seats with leather foot-rests, laptop stowage and armrests that also act as privacy dividers.
