Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has hit out at Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for what he termed as disrespect to the president and solely focusing on Mt Kenya region politics.

This comes days after Gachagua expressed frustrations in government during an interview on Citizen TV.

“I want to tell our DP that you are part of the presidency and it should be a symbol of national unity so if you have a problem look for the President and have a conversation. I urge the DP to respect the President so that he can deliver on his mandate,” Barasa said.

The governor was speaking when he attended a service at Christ Church Emwiru Parish- Ekonjero Market in Kisa North Ward, Khwisero constituency.

He asked Gachagua to stop focusing on the Mt Kenya region and serve the country.

“We don’t want you to be speaking about Mount Kenya everyday, you are not a leader of Mount Kenya, you are the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya who was elected by Kenyans from all the 47 counties of this country,” he said.

This come as a section of leaders continue questioning Gachagua’s trips to the Mount Kenya region every weekend.

On Saturday Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga also slammed the DP saying his constant public lamentations show lack of seriousness.

“If you are elected as a President and DP you should be serious with the work that Kenyans have given you, you should know that its not your duty to come back and start lamenting,” she said.

Wanga who is also ODM National Chairperson faulted Gachagua for focusing on Mount Kenya region politics.

“We would like to see the DP touring the entire country and talking about development across the country. He himself said the people of Kenya elected him it was not just a small part of Kenya,” she said.

During the live TV interview on Friday night, Gachagua claimed that he had denied access to the President William Ruto's diary.

The DP alleged that a section MPs had been bribed to impeach him. He appealed to President to call his house to order and stop his humiliation.
