Champions Kenya Prisons stay put at the men's league summit

Reigning Kenya Volleyball Federation men's national league champions Kenya Prisons maintained a five-point gap between them and second-placed Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) after the third leg played at the weekend.
The warders, who are looking to extend their reign to three years in a row, top the table with 26 points from 10 matches having won nine and lost one to bitter rivals General Service Unit (GSU).
Kenya Prisons coach Dennis Mokua said they are using the league matches to prepare for the CAVB Men's African Volleyball Club Championship set for April in Misurata, Libya.
"These matches are not just about the league, but are also our preparations for club championships. With every match, we identify areas that are working well and those that need more attention and I believe they will help us become better ahead of the continental challenge," Mokua said.
KPA are second with 21 points thanks to a successful third leg trip that saw them bag maximum points from their three encounters.
The dockers are having a great season and have won seven out of eight ties. Equity Bank, who had their first tie against GSU abandoned on Thursday due to a power outage at the Nyayo Gymnasium, are third with 18 points from six wins and two losses.
The bankers beat Administration Police Kenya (APK) in straight sets of 25-13, 25-19 and 25-22 to chalk their sixth win of the season and maintain their third spot on the log.
GSU, who are the only side with a 100 per cent win record, are fourth with 17 points from six matches. GSU, who are keen to salvage the crown they relinquished in 2023, dropped a point in their 3-2 conquest against holders Kenya Prisons.
Trailblazers moved one place up to fifth after securing eight points from two wins and two losses at the weekend.
They now have 17 points from nine matches. Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) leaped four places up to sixth after bagging nine points from three. They have played five matches, won four and lost one.
Kenya Army and Kenya Forest Services (KFS) complete the top eight in seventh and eighth positions respectively.
Kenya Army have garnered 12 points, while KSF have 10 from six matches. Kenya Airport Police Unit (KAPU) are ninth tied on 10 points with KFS.
