Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) star Enock Mogeni hopes for a positive pro-debut on Saturday after joining Japanese-side Oita Miyoshi Weisse Adler.

The Kenyan volleyball international is reported to have signed a three-year deal with the Japanese volleyball top-tier side.

In the process, Mogeni who played as an opposite attacker for Kenya Ports Authority in the local league will join a list of top Kenyan players who have featured for the Asian-based club.

Apart from volleyball coach Godfrey Okumu who was attached to Oita Miyoshi from 2006-2012, other Kenyan volleyball greats who played for the Japanese outfit include Dennis Mokua, James Ontere and Phillip Maiyo.

Oita Miyoshi features in the Japanese Volleyball League One, the top tier in the volleyball-mad country.

They finished ninth last season in the 10-team league that saw Suntory Sunbirds defend the title.

Sunbirds have won the league nine times including back-to-back titles in 2020-2021 and 2021-2022.

Mogeni leaves KPA who booked automatic tickets to next year's African Clubs Championship after finishing second behind reigning local volleyball champions General Service Unit.
