Braeburn, Kenyatta University rule NCSA Level One gala

Braeburn Swimming Club and Kenyatta University (KU) dominated the Nairobi County Swimming Association (NCSA) Level One Age Group Swimming Championships held at Kiota School at the weekend.

Swimmers aged 12 years and above battled for top honours with the best securing their tickets to the Level Two gala to be staged at the same venue in a fortnight.

Braeburn garnered 33 points, while KU had 22 to emerge tops in the men and women's categories.

Braeburn men won 19 gold, 11 silver and three bronze medals, with KU finishing second. They had seven gold, seven silver and six bronze medals.

Oshwal Academy, Nairobi, who returned to the competition after a six-year absence, finished third with seven gold, four silver and six bronze medals. Seahorses Aquatic Center and Pro Swim Academy Kenya finished fourth and fifth with 18 and 10 medals respectively.

In the women's contest, KU won nine gold, seven silver and six bronze medals with Braeburn ladies settling for second best with eight gold, four silver and three bronze.

Kianda School finished third with six gold, five silver and three bronze. Seahorses and German School Nairobi were fourth and fifth after collecting 15 and 14 medals.

In the girls' 12 to 13 years contest, Chepngetich Tarus of Raptors Swimming Club, Chichi Kotut of Braaeburn, Elssa Kipchumbah of Seahorses and Malia Walti of German School topped the standing tied on 10 points.

The Braeburn duo of Doran Munyagia and Yonatin van Engen were top in the boys 12 to 13 years category.
