White Cap were unlucky not to have won the Moi Cup but they proved their worth when the three-day competition came to an end on Sunday evening.

The team of Craig Millar (3.5), Gideon Moi(1), Nikki Barlow(0.5) and Fred Kambo(0.5) were a joy to watch with spirited combination and determination to win in all their matches.

They made a formidable comeback in the 5-6 loss to Tanqueray after trailing by three goals but went home with their heads high after the narrow loss.

That was after the White Cap side had earlier thrashed Kenya Highland Seed team of Kimoi Moi, Jamie Excel (1), Nick Millar (1) and Emily Patterson (1) 5-2 for them to take a commanding lead in the fight for top honours but faltered in their last match.

And as Kimoi lost to his father's side in their second match, he (Kimoi) and Hiromi Nzomo emerged as some of outstanding players in the competition ahead of the Christmas Championships at the same venue this weekend.

Manyatta Cider's team of Hiromi, Will Millar (2.5), Megan Griffiths (1.5) and Tom Stonewigg (1) emerged as the Moi Cup champions.

"Be assured we'll come back next year with another sponsorship," said Kimoi while awarding prizes to the winners.

And as the season comes to an end, Manyatta Club vice captain Geof Morley urged players to register for the Christmas Championships starting at the same venue on Friday in the first preliminary matches.

"Confirm your participation for next tournament so that we get this thing right," he said.
