Kenyan motocross riders have touched down in Marrakech, Morocco, ready to compete in the prestigious FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations (MXOAN) Championship, which kicks off this weekend from October 25 to 27. With a team of 17 riders, Kenya is eager to make its mark on the international stage after months of preparation.

The highly anticipated event will see over 200 riders from 10 countries, including powerhouses like South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Uganda, vying for supremacy. Dubbed the motocross equivalent of the Africa Cup of Nations in football, the MXOAN promises intense competition across various categories.

Kenya’s neighbors, Uganda, have entered the largest contingent with 27 riders, led by reigning MX2 African Champion Stav Orland. Orland’s dominance was on full display in the 2023 edition held in Cape Town, where he clinched all three heats in the MX2 category to secure the overall title.

Both Kenyan and Ugandan riders underwent special training in September, with guidance from FIM instructor Dearden Andre, to ensure they are in top form for the weekend's action-packed races. South Africa, the defending champions, are also brimming with confidence, sending a strong lineup as they aim to retain their crown in Morocco.

The stage is set for an exhilarating weekend as Africa's top motocross talent battles for continental glory.
