Surprises marked the last day of the Nairobi Region Secondary Schools Term Two Games at the Jamhuri High School.

Highway Secondary School and Hospital Hill High School stole the show as they reclaimed the boys' football and volleyball titles after impressive wins in the final.

Upper Hill retained their boys' rugby 7s title following a 7-0 win over Nairobi School. Livingstone Odhiambo's converted try was enough to see Upper Hill extend their reign. Dagoretti Mixed were crowned the inaugural girls' rugby 7s champions. They beat Karen Community 10-5 in the final.

Hospital Hill finally recaptured their spot at the apex of volleyball in Nairobi after a hard-fought 3-1(25-17, 21-25,30-28,25-22) win over holders Ruthimitu Mixed Secondary School.

It was their first title since 2017 and also sweet revenge after losing to Ruthimitu in the last two years. Hospital Hill captain Brian Kapule said they are not resting on their laurels after finally ending their long drought.

"Last year we played with fear and that hindered us from fully maximising our potential. I am happy that we finally showed what we can do this year," Kapule said.

"We will give our best at the nationals and not just add the numbers because we have a talented squad, he added.

Soweto Academy as expected retained the girls' title with a convincing straight sets win over Brown Hill Academy. They won 25-12,25-7 and 25-5.

In football, Highway put the disappointment of last year's loss to Dagoretti High School to see off Olympic Mixed Secondary School 3-1 thanks to a brace from Kenya U18 star Humphrey Aroko.

Olympic had shocked defending champions Dagoretti 1-0 in the semi-final as Highway beat St Patrick's Secondary School 2-0 in the other semis.

The girls' final was a one-sided affair as Dagoretti Mixed Secondary thrashed Dandora Secondary School 8-0 with Rael Monalisa helping herself to six goals. Rebecca Odato and Phila Khayesi were also on target.
