A craftsman must sharpen his tools to do his job. This is the tested truth as some knives must be sharpened by hand and on a stone.

Going by this believe, several schools in Coast region have no options but to prepare for Term Two games that kick off next week at the sub county level.

Several schools took part in the annual Shanzu Open festival. The festival that attracted 16 institutions saw the teams compete in football, volleyball, netball and 3x3 basketball. In boys' football, Jaribuni Secondary School of Kilifi emerged victorious. Jaribuni edged out Waa School of Kwale 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw at the regulation time. Waa had beaten Shanzu Teachers Training College 3-1, while Jaribuni stopped former Coast region champions Shimo La Tewa 2-1 in the other semifinal.

In boys' 3x3 basketball, former Coast region champions Baptist High School of Mombasa defeated Shanzu Teachers Training College 21-6 in the final. In the semis, Baptist beat Galana of Kilifi 14-8, while Shanzu narrowly edged out Kwale's Kaya Tiwi School 9-7.

Kaya Tiwi recovered to win boys' volleyball and both girls 3x3 basketball and netball titles.

In boys' volleyball, Kaya Tiwi silenced Waa 3-0 in an all-Kwale County final affair. The winners beat Jaribuni 3-0 while Waa tightly edged out Mtwpa Elite School of Kilifi 3-2 on their way to the final.

In netball, Kaya Tiwi amassed 18 points to win on an unbeaten record. The school's team B were second with 15 points, while Kilifi's Kizurini were third with 12 points.

In girls' 3x3 basketball, Kaya Tiwi bagged eight points for the overall title, with Matuga of Kwale and Shanzu Teachers Training College bagging seven and six points for the second and third positions respectively.

Meanwhile, Kilifi county Term Two games start on June 6-8 with Chonyi sub county games.
