Kiambu gears up for bumper entry at Kiambu Invitational Gala

Swimmers are leaving nothing to chance as they prepare for the Kiambu invitational swimming gala that begins on Saturday at the Mpesa Foundation Academy, in Thika.

Kiambu Aquatic Association said swimmers from Burundi, South Sudan, Tanzanian, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have registered for the two-day event.

The association's public relations officer Nesma Mbati said 20 local teams have confirmed their participation.

"We expect to have a full house event that has attracted several foreign swimmers," said Mbati in a statement.

He added that the meet is open to swimmers aged between seven and over 16 years.

Joy Town School for the physically challenged and Mugumoini special children will be among the swimmers in the persons with disabilities category.

Mombasa Aquatics, Eldoret Torpedo have also registered for the gala.

Nairobi has the lion's share of swimmers, led by Potterhouse, Aga Khan Academy, Loreto Msongari and Seahorses.

Others are Super Marlins, Crawford, Mpesa Foundation Academy, Sabis, The Harpoons, Kuraiha primary School, Zetech University, Sayari school, Gitwe Primary School and Condor Swim Club.
