St Joseph Girls Kitale are the 2024 KSSSA National rugby sevens champions.

Commonly referred to as JOGA, St Joseph saw off Kinale Girls 10-5 in the finals played on Wednesday at Kisii School grounds.

Esther Wanyonyi gave St Joseph the lead with an unconverted try before Sinaida Naliaka made it 10-0.

Rael Morara crossed over the whitewash for an unconverted try for Kinale in the defeat.

Speaking after the win, JOGA rugby tactician Nelly Wamalwa was over the moon after the win as she congratulated her girls for putting their bodies on the line to bring the trophy home.

"It has been an amazing journey for us. To win the nationals unbeaten shows that we deserved this because the girls are talented. We head to East Africa with our heads high," said Wamalwa.

St Joseph Girls begun the tournament with a 36-5 win over Dagoretti, 7-5 over Kinale and Mbakalu 7-0 in the preliminary stages.

In quarters, St Joseph's Kitale saw off Paul Harris 14-5 to storm the semis.

Kinale, St Joseph Girls, St Teresas and Nyagichenche all have qualified for the East Africa games to be played in Uganda later this month.
