Menengai Oilers kicked of their 2024-2025 Kenya Cup campaign on a high note after thrashing Kisumu RFC 76-13 at the ASK Showground in Nakuru.

Nelson Makokha scored a brace, while Clinton Odhiambo, Destorious Ifedha, debutants Samuel Ovuamu and Amos Obaeh, Timothy Okwemba, Beldad Ogeta, skipper Hibrahim Ayoo, and Celestin Mboi all crossed the white wash for the big win.

On the other hand, Nondescripts came from behind to edge out Strathmore University Leos 22-13 in Ngong.

Moseti Nyaenya opened the scoring with a penalty for Nondies, giving them an early 3-0 lead before Strathmore responded with a penalty of their own to tie the scores at 3-3.

The university students then took a 10-3 lead after bagging a converted try to head to the break seven points ahead.

In the final half, Nondies responded with a corner try to narrow the gap to 10-8.

A penalty try saw Nondies lead once again 15-10 before a late try sealed victory for the Ngong Racecourse based side.

With this dominant win, Oilers joined KCB and Kenya Harlequins as the only teams to score over 50 points in the opening weekend of the Kenya Cup.
