The 2024/25 Kenya Cup season has been rescheduled to start on November 23, a week later than initially planned, following changes to the Elgon Cup dates.

In a memo to clubs, Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) CEO Thomas Odundo announced that the league would be delayed to align with the new Elgon Cup schedule, allowing top-tier clubs additional preparation time.

Originally set to kick off on November 16, the Kenya Cup was adjusted after a joint decision by KRU and the Uganda Rugby Union (URU) to move the two-legged Elgon Cup series.

The first leg of the cross-border rivalry will now be hosted in Nairobi on November 9, with the return leg scheduled for November 16 in Kampala. This change enables players competing in both the Kenya Cup and the Elgon Cup to focus fully on each competition.

The Kenya Cup lower-tier matches will still proceed as planned on November 16.

The league’s opening day will see last season’s top performers, Kabras Sugar, square off against Impala RFC, while KCB Rugby will play against South Coast Pirates. Other fixtures include Menengai Oilers vs. Kisumu RFC, Nondescripts vs. Strathmore Leos, Kenya Harlequin FC vs. Mwamba RFC, and K.U. Blak Blad vs. Nakuru RFC.

The revised calendar sets up an intense season with clubs eager to contend for Kenya Cup glory after the additional preparation period.
