Kabras Sugar are the 2024 Christie Sevens champions.

The sugar men kicked off this year’s National Sevens Circuit campaign on the front foot after seeing off Kenya Harlequin 17-12 to win the Christie Sevens on Sunday at RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi.

Patrick Lumumba who was instrumental for the sugar millers during the unbeaten 2023-2024 Kenya Cup season gave Kabras a 5-0 lead after going over the white wash for an unconverted try.

Griffins Chao stretched the lead to 10-0 after some brilliance play before Erick Cantona added the extras to extend the scorers to 12-0.

Down but not out, Quins responded through Amon Wamalwa before another try by Wamalwa tied the scores to 12-12.

Kabras would however have the last laugh when Kenya Sevens star William Muhanji raced from his own half before offloading to Cantona for the win.

The victory saw Kabras Sugar reclaim the Christie Sevens title they last won seven years ago in 2017.

Catholic Monks finished third after seeing off Strathmore Leos 10-5 in the third place playoffs dubbed ‘University Derby’ while defending series champions KCB finished fifth after 29-12 win over Menengai Oilers.
