Buffaloes out to retain title as Rugby Super Series returns

The much-anticipated return of the Rugby Super Series is set to reignite the spirit of competition in Nairobi today with defending champions Buffaloes battling with the Cheetahs at noon at the RFUEA Grounds.

Originally planned for the KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka, the venue change was prompted by the recent heavy rains affecting Nairobi and other regions.

The Buffaloes, renowned for their formidable lineup and strategic prowess, are keen to retain their title. The series, returning after a ten-year hiatus, will be followed by a face-off between the Lions and Rhinos at 3pm.

Buffaloes coach Max Adaka shared his strategy for the upcoming match, emphasising his team's readiness and focus.

"We've honed our strengths and addressed our past weaknesses. Our approach against the Cheetahs will be to control the pace of the game and exploit their gaps. It's about playing smart and staying disciplined under pressure," said Adaka.

This year's Super Series adopts a round-robin format, with games scheduled across Nairobi, Nakuru, and Kakamega. The top two teams will advance to the championship match on the fourth match day, ensuring a fierce competition among the contenders.

Adding to the excitement, this season also marks the debut of a women's competition featuring the Eagles and Jaguars.

With strong teams and strategic gameplay, the Buffaloes are not just competing for another title but are also aiming to set a high standard for sportsmanship and rugby excellence in the region.
