Kenya Sevens were handed a reality check on Saturday after losing 24-12 to Germany in their last Group C match at the ongoing World Rugby Challenger Series in
Indiscipline and laxity cost Kenya the game as the two sides renewed rivalry after earlier meeting during the 2023 Safari Sevens where Shujaa emerged 19-7 winners.
Shujaa star player Kevin Wekesa was sent to the bin early in the game, a numerical advantage the Germans took advantage of to lead 5-0 after John Dawe touched down an unconverted try in the third minute.
Rising star Patrick Odongo responded for Kenya after exploding rom the wings to score a try that Anthony Omondi converted for a 7-5 lead.
At the start of the second half, Tim Lichtenberg bagged two tries before Odongo burst on the right-side wing for a try that cut the gap to 5 points. Lichtenberg completed his hattrick for a 24-12 win for Germany.
