Kenya Sevens captain Nelson Oyoo is confident of posting positive results in South Africa as the third leg of the 2022-2023 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, Cape Town Sevens, kicks off on Friday.

Shujaa who collected five points last week at the Dubai Sevens are in Group C dubbed the 'Group of Death' consisting of defending champions New Zealand, Argentina and Spain.

The Damian McGrath led team will be expected to raise their game further in South Africa as they chase their maiden pool win of the season after a challenging start to the campaign.

Kenya is yet to pick any win in the group stages in the already-played Hong Kong and Dubai Sevens legs.

However, last Saturday, Shujaa secured their first win of the 2022-2023 campaign after beating Canada 17-7 in the ninth-place quarterfinal playoffs.

Shujaa will play Argentina at 3:22pm East African Time which will mark their only match of the day and Oyoo believes his side have nothing to fear.

"Last weekend was an improved show and I believe we have what it takes to be competitive. Our main goal remains to reach the Main Cup quarterfinals and I trust with a few adjustments in our offensive set plays and defending we can make it" said Oyoo.

"We know it is not going to be an easy pool but we are also not an easy side to beat on a good day. Our attacking was better in Dubai but we failed to defend leads. That's the area of focus this week."

On Saturday, Kenya will resume day two action with a clash against record series champions New Zealand at 10.07am before facing Spain in their last match at 3.25pm.
