The Kenya national rugby sevens team Shujaa, will face Uganda in the Emirates Dubai Invitational Sevens Plate finals after knocking out Spain in the semifinals.

Shujaa bounced back to winning ways after a disappointing exit out of the Main Cup by thrashing Spain 27-15 to glide into the fifth-place finals to be played at the Sevens Stadium.

Kenya took a 5-0 lead through KCB’s Jacob Ojee despite the conversion by Daniel Taabu strolling wide.

Ojee’s club teammate Johnstone Olindi doubled the scores after scoring between the posts straight from the ruck as Taabu missed the conversion again.

Alvin Otieno ensured Kenya took a comfortable 15-5 lead into the breather after the Spanish crossed over for their first unconverted try.

Jeff Olouch dived past the try line after the restart for Kenya’s fourth try before Spain made it a 10-point game by their second try to take the scores to 20-10.

Substitute Derrick Keyoga came off the bench to seal Kenya’s win before Spain landed their third try as Kenya held on to win 27-15.

Kenya will face Uganda at 3:42 pm East African Time. Former Kabras Sugar star Philip Wokorach inspired Uganda to an impressive 24-19 win over Japan after scoring a brace.
