Five family members died in a road accident at Mbaruk on the Nakuru-Nairobi highway.

Gilgil Sub-County Police Commander Jamleck Ngaruiya confirmed the incident, stating that one person had been rushed to St. Joseph Hospital.

“A mother, her three children, and their house help perished, while the driver, believed to be the husband, survived with injuries,” he said.

The accident occurred at around 7 a.m. on Tuesday after their vehicle, a Mercedes, was involved in a head-on collision with a truck. The driver was attempting to overtake when the incident happened.

The bodies have since been moved to the Gilgil Sub-County Morgue, and the car was towed to the Gilgil Police Station.

Ngaruiya has urged drivers to follow road rules and exercise caution to avoid causing accidents.
