Baringo landslide leaves four dead, two missing

Four people died while two are missing after three homes were destroyed by a landslide in Kasisit and Kapkombe villages in Baringo North.
Baringo County Commissioner Stephen Kutwa said that a 13-year-old boy was among the dead.
Kutwa said 15 households were evacuated ="https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/rift-valley/article/2001500467/boy-13-missing-after-landslide-in-baringo">after the landslide flattened< three houses on Tuesday night.
The administrator regretted that the calamity occurred while the locals were sleeping causing massive destruction.
He said that the search and rescue mission commenced on Wednesday morning.

“Unfortunately four people have died, two from Kasisit with two others from Kapkombe, so far two are missing, what is believed to be a skull was recovered but we are trying to establish if it belongs to the three families,” he said.
The bodies were removed to Baringo County Morgue awaiting postmortem.

He said families displaced by floods in Salaban have been moved to safer grounds. On Monday last week, transport along Sacho-Tenges connecting Eldama Ravine, Baringo Central, Mogotio, and Baringo South sub-counties was paralysed following a landslide in the area.
