Five people died this morning and ten others sustained multiple injuries following a fatal road accident at the Londiani area on the Nakuru- Kericho Highway.

The Standard has established that the accident happened at around 3.30 am on Saturday, December 2.

The accident victims, five men, and one child died after the 14-seater matatu they were traveling in rammed into a trailer on the busy highway.

According to police, the matatu was headed towards Nakuru from Kericho when the driver rammed into a trailer.

The injured have been transferred to hospitals in Molo and Londiani Sub-County for treatment, the Kenya Red Cross has confirmed.

Eleven of the passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Molo and Londiani Hospitals whereby they are undergoing treatment.

A truck rammed into seven vehicles at the Londiani junction on the Kericho-Nakuru Road, killing 51 people.
