Kenya Airways has said that flights in and out of Kisumu International Airport have resumed normalcy.

This follows Thursday evening's bird strike which resulted in a plane temporarily being stuck on the runway.

According to KQ, the aircraft had landed safely in Kisumu but could not exit the runway fully as the bird strike affected the aircraft's steering components.

Passengers were safely evacuated and an inspection was conducted, declaring the runway safe.

The plane had however made two aborted landings.

"Flights in and out of Kisumu International Airport are operating on schedule. KAA together with KCAA carried out inspection and declared the runway safe for use," said Kenya Airways in a statement.

Efforts to restore the aircraft fully for operation are currently underway.
