Rangwe MP disburses Sh50 million bursary to needy students

At least 14,600 needy students from Rangwe constituency can breathe a sigh of relief after the NG-CDF released Sh50 million bursary as schools open for second term.
The bursary will benefit students in secondary schools, tertiary colleges and universities.
Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, Rangwe MP Lilian Gogo, and the Kenya Secondary School Heads Association chairman in the County Dickens Bula presided over the distribution of the bursary to needy students at Asumbi Girls High School.
Dr Gogo noted that secondary school students received Sh5,000 while their university and tertiary college counterparts got Sh7,000 each.
The MP said the bursary was distributed fairly, to ensure all vulnerable students benefit.

"The bursary was distributed through transparency and accountability to ensure no deserving student was left out," she said.
The MP said she prioritises education which is key to the development of Rangwe.
She argued that failure to invest in education is tantamount to killing the productivity of the future generation.
"My leadership prioritises education because it is the only investment through which we can have a productive future generation," Gogo said.
She urged secondary school management to use the funds prudently.
Ms Wanga noted that the distribution of the bursary came at an opportune moment when students were returning to school for second term.
The governor said parents sacrifice a lot for the sake of their children's education, hence it is important for them to reciprocate by working hard in academics.
"Some parents do not buy new clothes for themselves. Not because they cannot buy many clothes but because they are sacrificing to enable their children to acquire an education. Let our students reciprocate their parents' efforts through hard work in their studies," she said.
