A man in Embakasi has pleaded guilty to stealing two television sets, bottles of assorted beer, and cash from a police canteen.

According to the charge sheet, Ogalo Hurdle Edengo broke into the Embakasi Police Station canteen and stole the items, along with Sh56,700 belonging to Laban Mogere Nyarangi.

Nyarangi, who runs the business, had left one of his employees at the canteen preparing meals for the next day.

Edengo had asked Nyarangi's employee to allow him to stay the night. Unfortunately, he allegedly woke up in the middle of the night, broke into the canteen, and stole the items.

The following morning, Nyarangi received a call from his employee, informing him that his business had been broken into and several items, including Sh3,700 in cash, were missing. After investigations, Edengo was identified as the prime suspect.

He was tracked down to his hideout and arrested. One of the televisions was recovered, although it had been damaged at the time of the theft. When presented in court, the accused admitted to the charges.

The case will be mentioned on October 25, 2024.
