American preacher and senior pastor of The Potter's House T.D. Jakes has dismissed claims that he was an attendee of parties held by music mogul Sean Combs, popularly known as Diddy.

This comes days after unverified reports on social media associated him with wild parties hosted by the musician.

While addressing congregants over the weekend, the 66-year-old preacher said he would not use the pulpit to address a lie when he had a chance to speak the truth.

"Out of concern, some of you come in to hear what I'm going to say. All of you who expect me to address a lie... you can log off.

"I will not use this sacred day and this sacred pulpit to address a lie when I have a chance to preach a truth," he said.

Adding: "I will stand straight up, head up, back straight and preach the unadulterated, infallible word of God."

Jakes said he was not out to convince anybody about who he was but dropped a hint that he would address the matter later.

"I am not here to convince nobody because I know who I am," he said.

The preacher further called upon his followers to ignore the rumours and save their energy.

Jordan Hora, executive director of PR and communications for the T.D. Jakes Group had earlier termed the 'party claims' as false and a 'distortion of words' saying Jakes would continue preaching the word of God undeterred.

"Recent claims circulating on pockets of social media about Bishop T.D. Jakes are unequivocally false and baseless.

"What has always been true, in the words of the late Pastor Charles H. Spurgeon, 'If you want the truth to go round the world you must hire an express train to pull it; but if you want a lie to go round the world it will fly; it is as light as a feather, and a breath will carry it," she said.

Adding: "... Chairman Jakes undeterred by false, perverse, ignorant, and conspiratorial speculations will persevere in his continued dedication to create meaningful change for millions around the globe guided by the timeless principles of compassion, service, and ministry."
