Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has pledged to stand his ground and fight to the very end, ahead of his impeachment hearing on Tuesday, October 7.

Gachagua clarified this stance following speculation about his potential resignation.

"When I called this press conference, there was a lot of speculation that I want to resign. This is a man elected by 7.2 million Kenyans; how dare you suggest that he could do so without public participation? I have no intention whatsoever to resign from this job, and I will fight to the end," affirmed Gachagua.

"The impeachment of a Deputy President is not a trivial matter that can be swiftly decided by a few Members of Parliament (MPs) and senators," he added.

Gachagua said he was committed to seeking justice through independent institutions, expressing hope that his impeachment would be dismissed.

"Certain individuals have tried to use my friends to sweet-talk me. My friends, I don't want to become enemies with you. If you're given such meaningless messages, please don't bring them to me," he warned.

He further emphasized, "I have no intention of resigning-I cannot resign. I have done nothing wrong against the people of Kenya. I have been very loyal to my boss, President Ruto, and I work hard every day. I will not be distracted."

Last week, Kibwezi West Member of Parliament Mwengi Mutuse introduced a motion seeking Gachagua's impeachment.

In his motion, Mwengi outlined 11 grounds for impeachment, including gross Constitutional violations, abuse of office, misconduct, and insubordination.
