Ahmed Abdullahi elected Chairperson of Council of Governors

Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi has been elected Chairperson of the Council of Governors, succeeding Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru.

Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga will serve as deputy.

Five governors contested for the chairmanship after submitting their nomination papers by the Monday, September 30, deadline.

The candidates included Abdullahi, Kahiga, Joseph Ole Lenku (Kajiado), Johnson Sakaja (Nairobi) and Muthomi Njuki (Tharaka Nithi).

Abdullahi won the election held at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi on Monday, October 2.

Waiguru was first elected council chairperson in September 2022.
