The Pharmacy and Poisons Board has suspended licences of four pharmaceutical practitioners for professional misconduct.

In a statement on Monday, September 9, Pharmacy and Poisons Board CEO Fred Siyoi disclosed that two pharmaceutical technologists had their licences suspended for two years after allowing unlicensed individuals to access their professional credentials and manage their licensed premises.

Another pharmaceutical technologist received a three-month suspension for failing to ensure proper closure of a premises, an action the board says posed a risk to public safety.

In a separate ruling, the board said a pharmaceutical technologist's licence was suspended for impersonating a student during the Board's May 2024 examination series.

"After a thorough review of the facts and your written confessions, the Board concludes that your actions represent a serious breach of trust and integrity, essential qualities for anyone in the pharmaceutical field," said Siyoi.
