Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi departed for Tokyo, Japan, on Thursday, August 22, to attend the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) Ministerial Meeting.

The conference, organised with the United Nations, United Nations Development Programme, World Bank and African Union Commission, focuses on fostering trade and investment.

Mudavadi is expected to present Kenya's interests, aligning with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.

"The government is keen on promoting trade and investment," said Mudavadi, adding that he would use the opportunity to showcase investment opportunities in Kenya, particularly in the Japanese private sector.

Mudavadi will also advocate for international cooperation on climate change, achievement of Sustainable Development Goals and reforms in international financing architecture.

On the sidelines, Mudavadi is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Japan's Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa, Liberia's Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow and Senegal's Minister for African Integration and Foreign Affairs Yassine Fall.

He will also meet with key figures from the Japan International Cooperation Agency, Toyota Tsusho Corporation and Fujita Corporation.
