President William Ruto has nominated Dorcas Agik Oduor as Attorney-General.

President William Ruto has nominated Dorcas Agik Oduor for the position of Attorney-General.

This follows the dismissal of the former Attorney-General, Justin Muturi and the Cabinet on July 11.

If approved, Oduor could become the first woman to hold the position in Kenya's history.

The nomination, submitted on Tuesday, July 30, is part of a broader reshuffle within the Cabinet.

Oduor, currently the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions and Head of Economic, International and Emerging Crimes at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, brings over 30 years of legal experience.

She began her career as a State Counsel in 1991 and has since served as a career Prosecution Counsel in the public sector for more than 12 years.

Oduor holds a master's degree in International Conflict Management, an LL.B degree from the University of Nairobi and a diploma from the Kenya School of Law.

In a dispatch on Tuesday, July 30, Head of Public Service Felix Koskei termed Oduor as having "extensive experience and unwavering commitment to the rule of law."

He added that her nomination is a testament to her "impressive professional competence and dedication."

At the same time, President Ruto nominated Beatrice Askul Moe as the Cabinet Secretary for East African Community Affairs and Regional Development.

Moe is a social scientist with experience in community development and management.

She has previously served as the County Executive Committee Member in charge of Water, Irrigation, Agriculture and Land Reclamation in Turkana County.

"Moe has a proven track record in driving behavioural and social change within communities," said Koskei.

Moe holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa and is pursuing a master's degree in Governance and Ethics.

The nominations have been forwarded to the National Assembly for consideration and approval.
