Eight shortlisted for Deputy Inspector General positions

The recruitment process follows the resignation of former Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome on July 12, 2024. 

The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has shortlisted eight candidates for the positions of Deputy Inspector General for the Kenya Police Service and the Administration Police Service.

According to a recent publication, the candidates shortlisted for the Deputy IG, Kenya Police Service position include George Adero Sedah, Eliud Kipkoech Lagat (currently serving in an acting capacity), Dr. Vincent Kinas Makokha, and Tom Mboya Odero.

Those shortlisted for Deputy Inspector General, Administration Police Service position are Margaret Nyambura Karanja, James Mukuha Kamau, Dr. Masoud Mwinyi, and Gilbert Masengeli.

NPSC Chief Executive Peter Leley announced that interviews for the shortlisted candidates will take place on Monday, July 22, 2024, starting at 9:30 a.m.

“Those shortlisted for the post of DIG-KPS will be the first to face the panel, with the exercise set to run until 12:15 p.m. Interviews will take place at the Kenya School of Government, Lower Kabete Campus, Nairobi,” the notice read.

Members of the public have until Monday next week to submit any information regarding the shortlisted candidates through a memorandum to the NPSC chairperson.
