Protestors confront police along Moi avenue, Nairobi[Collins Kweyu, Standard]

Police have issued a warning about goons planning to infiltrate, disrupt, and destabilise Tuesday's protests nationwide.

Acting Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja stated that credible intelligence indicates the alleged "criminal group" could jeopardise the safety of demonstrators.

"While you demonstrate, we urge you to remain peaceful and vigilant. Please collaborate, cooperate, and coordinate with the police to ensure your safety," Kanja said in a statement.

The National Police Service reiterated its commitment to upholding the rule of law, serving and protecting citizens, and maintaining order, while ensuring everyone enjoys their constitutional rights.

The remarks come after protesters complained of infiltration by goons during previous demonstrations, resulting in the destruction of property and loss of lives.
