The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has summoned Daadab Member of Parliament Farah Maalim over alleged inflammatory remarks he made regarding the Gen Z protests against the Finance Bill 2024.

NCIC claimed that Maalim's remarks, made in Somali language, may likely incite feelings of hatred, hostility, violence, or discrimination.

"We have summoned the MP to appear before the Commission this Thursday at 11.00 a.m. The Commission is investigating remarks made by the MP in Somali on the Gen Z demonstrations," an official statement by the Commission read.

According to NCIC, Maalim's remarks violated Section 13 (1) (a) of the NCIC Act.

The commission has warned the MP against failing to appear before it to assist with the investigations.

"Failure to appear in person at the said place, date, and time is an offense as provided under Section 63 (c) as read with Section 63 (e) of the NCI Act."

In the undated video, Maalim, speaking in Somali, is allegedly captured saying that if he were the President of Kenya, he would have "slaughtered" 5,000 young protesters daily, over what many believe he was referencing the security breach on Parliamant during the recent anti-tax protests.

"God forbid if I was President I would have slaughtered them, 5,000 of them daily. Serious, there is no two ways about it," he said.

But while appearing on KTN News yesterday, the MP distanced himself from the video, claiming its contents were tampered with and are misleading.
