President William Ruto jetted back into the country on Monday morning, following a four-day visit to Italy and Switzerland.

The head of state has been away since Thursday, June 13 for the Ukraine peace summit and the G7 participation.

A video making rounds on social media shows the head of state disembarking from a Kenya Airways flight.

Upon arrival, he was received by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki, Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, National Assembly and Senate majority leaders Kimani Ichung'wah and Aaron Cheruiyot, among other leaders.

It follows concerns recently raised by the public on how President Ruto spent money hiring a private jet for his state visit to the United States instead of boarding Kenya Airways.

The president then claimed that his attempt to use Kenya Airways was quite expensive as compared to the private jet.

President Ruto later clarified that the government only paid Sh.10m as his friends catered for the rest.
