The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) examinations kicked off Monday 30, October.

At least 1,415,315 candidates were ready to write their final national examinations for primary school level countrywide.

Security officers were deployed to different exam collection and distribution points to ensure the security of the learners during the whole process.

This year's exam marks the last group of Standard 8 students under the 8-4-4 system of education since it was introduced in 1985.

Grade Six learners under the Competency-Based Curriculum are also sitting for their KPSEA exams.

Examination Centre managers and teachers have also taken off their part in overseeing the examination that is supposed to last for three days.

Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang has overseen the start of the exam this morning looking over the opening of examination containers.

Speaking in Nakuru, PS Kipsang assured that the whole process had commenced well and the relevant authorities are working in handy to curb any malpractices.

"We have already arrested a teacher who had 10 social media accounts. We are working very closely with the DCI and Communication Authorities of Kenya and other security teams and I believe we have conquered these fellas. we shall not allow anyone to mess up our children and I can assure you that the integrity of our examinations is intact" said Kipsang.

As the exams are underway, learners are to sit for three papers today including Mathematics, English language, and composition.
