Western Jaguars claw Greensharks to open six-point gap at the top

Western Jaguars open a six-point gap at the helm of the Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) Premier League after thumping Greensharks 3-0 at Eregi TTC on Saturday in Kakamega.

Willis Malesi gave the hosts a 16th minute lead after converting a penalty stroke before Oscar Kibet ensured the Michael Malungu-coached side went to the break leading 2-0 with a 24th minute goal.

Emmanuel Wiswa sealed the win in the 37th minute as Jaguars stretched their lead at the top to 20 points.

The win, their sixth of the campaign also saw them stretch their unbeaten run to eight matches.

Kenya Police who are not in action this weekend follow in second place with 14 points while defending champions Butali Warriors are third with 12 points. Both Police and Butali have game in hands.

In Nairobi, Sailors Hockey Club hammered KCA University 4-0 at City Park to move fourth on 10 points from seventh.

Shadrak Oroho, Abrahama Musee, Dennis Yalwala and Robert Wasike scored in the win.
