Trans Nzoia County hockey champions St Joseph Girls Kitale and St Anthony's Boys Kitale ruled the Rift Valley Regional School games that started on Wednesday in Eldoret.

St Joseph Girls who are seeking to dethrone national champions St Mary's Tachasis are through to the next round after winning all their Group D matches against Singore and Kapkesosio.

In their opening match, Daisy Kerubo scored a hat trick as St Joseph thrashed Kapkesosio 6-0. Mary Adhiambo added two more goals as Tracy Korir sealed the win.

Against Senegera, Korir took her tally of the tournament to three after bagging a brace as Rosemary Marube, Daisy Kerubo and Mary Adhiambo each scored in their 5-1 win.

Speaking after their win, St Jospeh coach John Lusaka said they are ready for the next stage.

"We wanted to finish top to avoid meeting the big teams and am glad we started well. We are scoring goals which is good and now what we have to do is play even better than we did today," said Lusaka.

After knocking out last year's East Africa runners up Trans Nzoia Mixed Secondary School to qualify for the county games last month, St Joseph Girls belive they have what it takes to win the regional gong.

In the boy's category, national champions St Anthony's Boys Kitale thrashed Ndururumo 6-0 in their opening Group C match.
