Sliders Hockey Club moved out of the relegation zone after picking their first win of the 2022 Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) Women's Premier League season over the weekend.

Sliders saw off Amira Sailors 2-0 at the City Park Stadium in Nairobi to move fifth in the standings of the seven-club league. Anita Agunda and Dorris Kirui goals in the 4th and 16th minutes were enough to hand Linet Onyango her first victory of the delayed camping.

The women's league had been suspended for months to pave way for national women's hockey team training as they prepared for the August Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Sliders move joint fourth with five points same as Wolverines but with an inferior goal difference of negative eight goals that push them fifth.

They have played seven matches, won one, drawn two and lost four.

Strathmore University continue to lead the standings with 12 points despite playing only four matches followed by United States International University of Africa (USIU-A) Women with seven points from three matches.

Defending champions Blazers (formerly Telkom) are third also with seven points from four matches. Sailors who are yet to register a single win are bottom of the table with three points as Kisumu Lakers are second last with four points from three games.

In the women's Super League, Mombasa Sports Club recorded a double win after seeing off Jomo Kenyatta University Agricultural Technology 2-1 and MMU 2-0.

The wins away from home lifted them to second in the table as their push to join their male counterparts in the top-tier league continues.

Kenyatta University who were not in action top the log with 16 points, a point above Mombasa Sports Club.

In the men's Premier League, Mombasa Sports Club also bagged their first win of the season after beating Park road Badgers 2-0. A 3-1 defeat however did nothing to improve Mombasa's survival push as they remained bottom with four points.

Butali Warriors lead the log with 26 points after 10 matches followed by Kenya Police with 23 points.
