Kisumu Day, St Anthony clash in pool of death as focus turns to national games in Nakuru

Kisumu Day will renew their rivalry with Friends School Kamusinga and St Anthony's Boys Kitale in hockey's Group of Death as the focus turns to the National Secondary School games at Nakuru High School on Friday.

The Nyanza Region hockey champions have been pooled in Group A alongside Western's Kamusinga, Rift Valley's Kitale and Mangu high from Central.

In Group B, Katangui from Eastern will headline the pool that also features St Georges from Eastern, Chewoyet from Rift Valley and Jamhuri from Nairobi.

In the girl's category, Nyanza champions Nyamira girls will be hoping to replicate dethroned heavyweights Sinyolo Girl's performances at the national level when they face off against Kavima, Matuga and Transnzoia in Group b.

Group A has St Mary's Tachasis, Moi Marsabit, Mwiki and Miskhu.

The Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) is working under strict timelines to stage the national games which will kick off on Friday, September 9 with the finals expected to be staged on September 12.

On Thursday, all the referees who were selected from the regions will meet at Nakuru High School for a coordination clinic before the teams' arrival on the same day for action from Friday.

After the national games are completed, the journey to the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association games will immediately kick off.

The prestigious event will be held on September 14 to 24 in Arusha.

The teams that qualify for the regional competition will then head to Kajiado on September 13 for a one-day clinic ahead of the East African games.
