The Ministry of Health has confirmed the second case of Mpox in Kenya.

This is after an adult male truck driver was reported to have the symptoms after being presented at the Health screening desk at the Malaba One Stop Border Post - Busia County.

"The driver had salient symptoms of the disease and a history if travel to the epicenter of the outbreak in DRC," a press statement from the Ministry read in part.

The patient has already been isolated and is under active management in a health facility in Busia as health officials increase surveillance for suspected cases in the area.

According to Health Cabinet Secretary Deborah Barasa, as of Friday, August 23, 42 samples have been submitted to the laboratories for Mpox disease testing out of which 40 samples have tested negative for the disease.

"In addition, we have screened 426,3438 travelers at our various Ports of Entry across the country," she said.

The CS also urged the public to seek ="https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/health/health-opinion/article/2001501318/we-have-collective-role-to-play-as-society-in-stopping-the-spread-of-mpox">accurate information< from its website, and qualified health professionals and also verify the validity of the content they may encounter on social media platforms online.
