Wahome, Ndegwa win Parent and Child golf tournament

With the future of Kenya golf lying in the hands of junior golf, the Nyahururu Elite Schools - Parent and Child Tournament was a resounding success, bringing together families for a day of fun, competition, and bonding at the high-altitude Nyahururu Country Club course on Sunday.
The day's standout performance was delivered by the overall-winning father and son duo of, Ndegwa Wahome and Peterson Ndegwa, who dazzled everyone with an incredible nett score of 64. They jelled well, banking on teamwork and strategic play to deliver the winning score.
"Our communication on the course helped us jell well by playing strategically while complementing each other. That is how we secured the top honours," Wahome said.
In the Subsidiary category, Njoki Mureithi and Teresia Wambui captured the overall subsidiary title with their impressive nett score of 70.
Daniel Njunge and Samuel Njenga put forth a strong effort, finishing in second overall position with a nett score of 68.
The competition was stiff in the main and subsidiary categories, and Dennis Paul and John Chege finished in second place after scoring a 72 nett.
Alvin Gitau and John Njuguna were among the top three finishers with a commendable score of 74 nett.
"The field of juniors highlighted a strong connection that the children share and cement with the parents through sports and as an institution," said Tabitha Waithaka, Director.
Nyahururu Elite Schools, "We are keen on nurturing and inculcating discipline among the children and the game of golf being a game of integrity, has provided us with a platform to do so through such sponsorship."
Adding excitement to the tournament, Benjamin Njunge, along with Father Nicholas Kamau, took home the Longest Drive prize with incredible power and precision from the golfers.
At the Nakuru Golf Club, where the Junior Golf Foundation, Regional Representative - Central Rift, Nancy Steinman hosted 70 juniors for the Back-to-School golf tournament, was also a great display of skill and competitiveness among the participants.
In the age group (15-18 years) for boys, Liam Mahinda 15, emerged as the overall winner with a net score of 77 ahead of Victor Chege 16 who raked in 101 nett and third placed Ian Mathenge with 106 nett.
Among the girls, Pari Maisuria 16, starred with 101 ahead of Michelle Chelaga 17 who chalked 104 while Jecinta Njeri was third with 105 nett.
In the special category Golf for the Disabled (G4D) Soile Mailong 14, outshone the rest with a nett score 129
