Over 100 Regional Golfers will be braving the greens for a competitive showpiece at the nine-hole par 71 Bujumbura Golf Club Course in Burundi on Saturday during the ongoing 2024 KCB East Africa Golf tour golf series.

The Amateurs drawn from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and hosts Burundi will be battling for sterling prizes and a qualification slots spot in the tour’s grand finale scheduled in Kenya later this year.

Bujumbura Golf Club Captain Huynen Benjamin said the Tour has played a pivotal role in bolstering the sport in the East African region, empowering thousands of golfers to hone their skills and nurturing emerging talent.

“The Club is excited to once again partner with the Bank for the second year running in this noble initiative that will be instrumental in growing this sport, “said Benjamin.

The Burundi leg of the series, which is the first Golf event held outside Kenya, will see the morning tee get underway at 6:30 am while the afternoon tee is expected to tee off at 12:30 pm.

In Kenya, the tour has so far traversed Mombasa, Nakuru, Kakamega, Eldoret, Nandi, and Kericho Counties reaching over 800 participants and over 500 juniors through the clinics that ran concurrently with the series.

KCB Group Director Marketing and Communications Rosalind Gichuru said they want to grow this sport of Golf to an elite level and to build the next generation of golfers.

“Our interaction with golfers so far has been commendable. The numbers we are receiving across the different courses are high therefore through the series, we are making a real impact reaching as many people as we can, “said Gichuru.

In the Kenyan edition, the tour will resume action on May 17, 2024 at the Nakuru Golf course.

Bujumbura Golf Club is the only Golf Club in Burundi established in 1965 and caters for a group of diverse golfers from Burundi and outside the Country.
