WELL DONE RAGALO: Handicap 13 floors 160 golfers to lift Standard County golf Classic title

An identical score of 19 stableford points on both nines is all Barth Ragalo needed to claim the overall prize during the Standard County Golf Classic series at par 72 Royal Nairobi golf club over the weekend.

Playing off handicap 14, Ragalo, a real estate mogul and managing director of Tysons Ltd, shot a sterling round of 38 (19+19) stableford points to prevail over a field of 160 golfers in the golfing outing sponsored by The Standard Group.

Ragalo attributed his win to a great form following thorough practice rounds throughout the past weeks. He also said his strong points of his game were his on-point chipping and putting.

His win also saw his handicap chopped from 14 to 13 after the tournament, whose CSS was 72 for both resident and away men and 74 for the lady golfers.

Robert Otieno of Limuru Country and golf Club, was the Men winner on a score of 38 (20+18) stableford points, piping Shandy Marwa, who finished second, on countback with a similar score of 38 (20+18).

Zakayo Karimi was Men Third on a score of 37 (19+18) stableford points.

It was double joy for the Karimi’s as Zakayo's wife, Nancy, claimed the Lady Winners prize on a score of 37 (16+21) stableford points, while Sarah Hoare took the Lady Second prize on a score of 34 (16+18) stableford points.

Limuru Country and golf clubs’ Ken Anunda was the Guest winner on a score of 37 (19+18) stableford points, while Peter Kiguru of Sigona golf Club, on 35 (16+19) stable ford points, won the Guest second prize.

Karl Gatiramu won the Junior prize by virtue of his handicap and Mose Sammy from the Editorial department, bagged the Staff prize on a score of 32 (14+18) stable ford.

Duncan Kivuitu and Ken Otieno were the first and second winners on 21 stableford points each. John Odhiambo was the Gross winner on 78 Gross, while G Waweru was the Best Effort/Piga Mingi prize winner on 9 (2+7) stableford points.

A. Hicks was Longest drive prize winner in the Men category, while Sarah Hoare won Longest drive prize in the Ladies category.

Raphael Lekolool won the Nearest to the Pin prize in the Men category, while Frankie Gichuru won in the Ladies category.
