Kenya is set to reignite its football rivalry with Rwanda and Tanzania in the upcoming Total Energies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) U-20 CECAFA qualifiers, scheduled to take place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from October 6 to 20.
The highly anticipated tournament will see Kenya drawn into Group A, facing off against Tanzania, Rwanda, Sudan, and Djibouti.
The draw for the tournament, held on Thursday in Dar es Salaam, marks the beginning of a competitive journey for the Kenyan team, which will battle it out at three different venues: Azam Complex, KMC Stadium, and the Major General Isamuhyo Stadium.
Group A, featuring Kenya, includes some of the region’s strongest teams, with hosts Tanzania and Rwanda expected to provide stiff competition. Rwanda and Tanzania are familiar rivals for Kenya, having faced each other in numerous regional tournaments over the years.
In Group B, defending CECAFA champions Uganda will lead the charge, alongside last edition’s finalists South Sudan, Burundi, and Ethiopia. Uganda will be aiming to defend their title and secure their place in next year’s AFCON U-20 tournament.
