Record Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia are looking to put behind their CAF Champions League disappointment when they kick off their title defence against Mathare United at Machakos Stadium on Saturday

K’Ogalo were eliminated from the continental showpiece in the first round on a 6-0 aggregate by defending champions Al Ahly of Egypt.

Kenya Police who also fell 3-1 on aggregate to Egyptian side Zamalek take on Tusker in their season opener in Sunday.

In other fixtures, Sofapaka will host Bandari in an early kick off at Machakos Stadium, while Bidco United will take on FC Talanta at Utalii Grounds.

Newly promoted Shabana FC will also be in action, facing Posta Rangers at Gusii Stadium, as they continue to adapt to life in the top tier.

While Gor Mahia will be seeking to start their campaign in the domestic league on a high note, current league leaders KCB will be out to maintain their unbeaten start to the season when they tackle Ulinzi Stars at Police Sacco Stadium tomorrow.

Patrick Odhiambo’s charges started the new campaign in excellent form, securing seven points from three matches.

KCB’s most recent victory was a 2-0 win against Posta Rangers, a result that helped the bankers cement their place at the summit.

Prior to that, they comfortably saw off Murang’a SEAL by the same scoreline after drawing 1-1 with Kariobangi Sharks in their first game.

The squad’s blend of attacking flair and defensive resilience has been key to their strong performances, with Odhiambo’s side yet to concede a goal in their last two outings.
