Football Kenya Federation (FKF) is gearing up for its much-anticipated elections after successfully holding a Special General Meeting (SGM) on Saturday.

The meeting, which took place ahead of the upcoming elections, saw the attendance of 89 delegates, including representatives from 45 FKF branches, as well as officials from various leagues, such as the FKF Premier League, FKF National Super League, FKF Women Premier League, FKF Women National Super League, and FKF Division One League.

The agenda of the SGM primarily focused on crucial matters to pave the way for smooth and transparent elections.

Key items discussed included the adoption of decisions by the National Executive Committee, approval of the newly constituted Electoral Board, and the adoption of the 2019/2020 Electoral Code, which will guide the election process.

Delegates at the meeting voted to approve the members of the Electoral Board, which comprises Hesbon Owilla, James Waindi, Alfred Ngang’a, Dan Mule, and Marceline Sande. In addition, Farida Lucia Juma and Robert Akumu Asembo were appointed as standby members.

This Board is now tasked with overseeing and conducting the upcoming FKF elections, ensuring they are carried out in a fair and organized manner.

Another significant outcome of the meeting was the unanimous adoption of the amended Electoral Code, set to be in effect for the forthcoming elections.

This amendment, which was championed by Tusker Chairman Charles Gacheru, addresses what had been considered a contentious issue heading into the elections: opening up the process for candidates wishing to vie for multiple FKF elective positions.

The change aims to provide greater clarity and inclusivity in the electoral process.

With the successful conclusion of the SGM and the establishment of the Electoral Board, the FKF is now well-positioned to proceed with the elections.

The adoption of the amended Electoral Code reflects the federation's commitment to transparency and inclusivity, ensuring that all stakeholders have a voice in the election process.

The FKF elections will follow these newly established guidelines, setting the stage for a pivotal moment in the governance of Kenyan football.
